The roots of the Suzusan label lies in the Japanese town of Arimatsu, where the Murase family, has been refining textiles with the traditional shibori technique for over 100 years (5x generations long).
Hiroyuki Murase, creative director of suzusan, is the eldest son of the Murase family and lives in Dusseldorf, Germany.
In 2008 he founded the suzusan label in Düsseldorf with the intent to place the Japanese handicraft into a contemporary context. He created upscale fashion collections to be produced by his family in Japan, giving the shibori a new life in modern times.
