Big shirt jacket in dark horse chestnut brushed hemp by Mittan with a wide silhouette, natural drape and flow, on-seam side pockets, nut buttons, curved hem and facing finishing.

Woven in Yamashina, Kyoto, using thick Chinese hemp yarn for both the warp and weft, and then brushed on the surface, resulting in a comfortable softer texture and feel. After dyeing, the fuzzy surface reflects light in a complex way, creating depth and richness in the color.
Hemp is an extremely strong fiber, yet it becomes more supple with repeated wear, developing a unique texture the longer it is used.
Knots and uneveness in the threads are part of the unique character of the natural materials.

Garment dyed in Kyoto, Japan, with horse chestnut (belongs to the Hippocastanaceae family), produced in Nagano Perfecture (Japan).
The dyeing is done using the seed part of the horse chestnut tree with an iron mordant.
