Masamitsu Kunugi graduated from Bunka Fashion College's Apparel Technology Department in 2008 and studied restoration at a Scandinavian furniture store in Tokyo.
In 2011, he studied abroad in Denmark, where he deeply considered environmental issues and peace at a multinational school. Later, while wandering around New Zealand, he happened to encounter the teachings of Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh, which deeply inspired him. In 2019, he moved to rural Nagano where he currently lives, amid of mountains and forests, where he collects bark and bamboo for his works.
